YSL Defendant Shannon Stillwell Was Stabbed In Prison, Young Thug Trial Delayed

Stillwell was stabbed at Fulton County Jail and is currently in the hospital

The legal saga surrounding Young Thug’s racketeering and gang conspiracy case in Atlanta faced another setback as co-defendant Shannon Stillwell, also known as Shannon Jackson, was stabbed in Fulton County Jail. Stillwell is one of six defendants implicated in the case, facing charges including conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), participation in criminal street gang activity, and two counts of murder. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The incident prompted a recess in the trial due to a “medical issue,” and Judge Ural Glanville called for the lawyers to reconvene on Tuesday to determine the trial’s course. Following the stabbing, Judge Glanville issued orders stating that Stillwell’s legal team could visit him at Atlanta’s Grady Hospital once medically cleared, emphasizing his separation from other defendants in all circumstances for his safety.

The case, which initially involved 28 defendants when indictments were filed in May 2022, has seen many entering guilty pleas or having their cases severed. Stillwell’s stabbing is the latest in a series of disruptions, including extensive jury selection and the controversial decision to admit multiple song lyrics as evidence. Young Thug, the central figure in the case, faces various charges, primarily centered around allegations of leading the criminal gang Young Slime Life (YSL) with connections to the national Bloods organization.
