Yo Gotti’s Brother Anthony ‘Big Jook’ Mims Gunned Down After Attending Funeral

Renowned rapper Yo Gotti’s brother, known as “Big Jook,” fell victim to a targeted shooting outside a Memphis restaurant, as reported by multiple sources. The incident unfolded around 4:15 p.m. outside Perignons Restaurant & Event Center, resulting in two men being shot.

Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, one of the victims, was swiftly transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Another individual, associated with the incident, was initially taken to the same hospital and later airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis in critical condition.

Both victims had attended the restaurant for a repast service, marking a tragic turn of events during what should have been a solemn occasion. Big Jook had earlier participated in a funeral service for a relative in the area on the same day.

Deputy Police Chief Paul Wright, in a press conference, indicated that the shooting seemed to be a deliberate and targeted act. However, no suspects have been identified, and arrests have not been made as the investigation is still in its early stages.

Big Jook, the older brother of Yo Gotti, was associated with his brother’s record label, CMG the Label (Collective Media Group). While he featured in music videos released by the label, his primary role was on the business side. It remains unclear if Yo Gotti was present at the scene of the shooting, and the rapper has not released any statements regarding his brother’s tragic death.

Yo Gotti, born Mario Sentell Giden Mims, initially entered the rap scene as Lil Yo with his debut album “Youngsta’s On a Come Up” in 1996. Evolving into Yo Gotti, he gained recognition with nominations for BET Hip Hop awards, including Album of the Year for “I Am” in 2014. His collaborations with artists like Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kanye West have further solidified his presence in the hip hop landscape. The shocking loss of his brother adds a somber note to his acclaimed career.
