Memphis Grizzlies Star Ja Morant’s New Tattoo: A Tribute to His Journey and Kobe Bryant

During the NBA offseason, Ja Morant, the talented Memphis Grizzlies guard, added some new ink to his body as a tribute to his basketball journey and the late Kobe Bryant. The Arizona-based tattoo artist, Andres Ortega, showcased his latest creation on Instagram, highlighting the meaningful artwork.

The tattoo session was a labor of love, spanning over 10 hours as Ortega and his team meticulously worked on Morant’s back and torso. The design holds deep significance, featuring elements that represent Morant’s basketball journey and upbringing. States of Georgia and South Carolina are inked by his shoulders, a nod to the places where he spent the majority of his childhood.

Basketball enthusiasts and sneaker fans will recognize Morant’s own Nike logo at the center, signifying his connection to the sportswear giant. Alongside this, Kobe Bryant’s iconic signature logo and jersey number are proudly displayed on the right side of the tattoo, serving as a heartfelt homage to the legendary NBA player.

The artwork doesn’t stop there; the Grizzlies logo adorns his left side, proudly representing his team. Additionally, Morant’s high school team, Crestwood Knights, is honored at the center of the piece, cherishing the roots of his basketball journey.

While the 2022-23 NBA season presented challenges for Morant due to suspensions resulting from his social media posts, his new tattoo stands as a testament to his passion for the game and his admiration for Kobe Bryant.

As fans eagerly anticipate Morant’s return to the court in the upcoming season, they can appreciate his journey and the tribute he has immortalized on his body through the captivating artwork shared by Andres Ortega on Instagram.
