HIP HOP ‘CAN TEACH YOU A LOT’ ABOUT OWNERSHIP JADAKISS SAYS

Jadakiss, a seasoned figure in the music industry, shared insights on the potential for hip-hop to be a pathway to understanding the nuances of business ownership in a recent interview with the 85 South Show.

Speaking on the podcast, Jadakiss emphasized how rap can serve as a stepping stone, especially for those with enduring careers in the industry. While acknowledging the initial tendencies of youth to spend recklessly, he highlighted the importance of transitioning to ownership. Jadakiss, who boasts multiple businesses, including six juice bars and the Kiss Cafe coffee venture with his son and father, sees hip-hop as a teacher about ownership.

The rapper conveyed the value of learning from experiences within the music industry, navigating challenges like clearances and label dealings. According to Jadakiss, this journey should lead artists to a point where they aspire to own everything associated with their name or investments, striving to be the sole owner or hold a significant stake.

The conversation on ownership occurs around the 7:24 mark in the interview. Over the weekend, Jadakiss, alongside LOX groupmate Styles P, received recognition for their community contributions in Yonkers, where they were honored for their commitment to giving back. The duo has been actively involved in charity work, hosting events such as a plant-based communal dining experience and contributing to massive turkey drives during Thanksgiving.

Mayor Mike Spano commended their continuous efforts, noting their unique status as famous figures who consistently return to support their hometown. The recent turkey drive, where 10,000 turkeys were distributed, aims to surpass its own record next year by reaching for 15,000 turkeys. Styles P and Jadakiss have been at the forefront of philanthropy in Yonkers, aligning with their advocacy for healthy lifestyle choices, exemplified by the opening of juice bars across New York since 2011.
