A$AP ROCKY Has Been Named Creative Director Of Puma x F1

ASAP Rocky is taking the creative driver’s seat in the world of Formula 1. The rapper has been named the creative director of the Puma x F1 collaboration, marking a multi-year partnership that will encompass lifestyle apparel, visuals, and live events. Puma has been the official provider of licensed F1 apparel, footwear, and accessories since May 2023, and now, with Rocky on board, they’re aiming to raise the bar.

Rocky’s involvement will evolve over the next three years. In 2023, his focus will be on visuals and video content. Additionally, he’s set to launch the first capsule collection of F1 apparel he’s personally designed in November, just in time for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix. The following year, 2024, will see the release of more collections, and Rocky will be conceptualizing activations at various F1 grand prix events, particularly in cities like Miami.

By 2025, Rocky’s creative influence will extend beyond lifestyle apparel for fans, encompassing on-track racewear designed for teams and drivers. He’s making a bold statement at the intersection of streetwear and motorsports.

In the visuals released, Rocky dons distinctive attire that draws inspiration from the F1 world, including a distressed balaclava reminiscent of the protective masks worn by drivers, complete with a Ferrari logo-adorned red sweater, Puma racing gloves, and Puma logo-printed baggy jeans. Other pieces on display include a cracked leather racing jacket, an airbrush-style F1 graphic-covered T-shirt, and a pair of denim jeans featuring the Puma logo.

Rocky’s role in Puma x F1 exemplifies the convergence of the fashion-forward streetwear scene and the high-speed world of Formula 1. The F1 brand has previously collaborated with notable streetwear labels, such as McLaren partnering with Rhude since 2021 and Tommy Hilfiger enlisting Awake NY for an F1-themed collection during the Miami Grand Prix in May.

Rocky himself is no stranger to automotive-inspired fashion. In March 2022, his creative collective, AWGE, collaborated with Mercedes-Benz on a range of products influenced by ’90s car merch. With his new role, he’s further blurring the lines between the world of motorsports and street style.

ASAP Rocky now joins Puma’s impressive roster of stylish ambassadors, including his partner Rihanna, who relaunched her Fenty Puma line in March 2023, and his “Praise the Lord” collaborator Skepta, who has been a global ambassador since November 2022.
