21 Savage’s ‘American Dream’ biopic staring Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin

It seems 21 Savage is ready to bring his life story to the silver screen. The hip-hop artist recently took to social media to unveil a flyer for “American Dream,” a film that delves into his journey. The promotional image features actors Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin, both sporting his iconic knife face tattoo. While the flyer sparked curiosity, no additional details about “American Dream” were disclosed.

In 2019, 21 Savage’s well-publicized encounter with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) brought attention to his British roots. Born in London, he and his mother relocated to Atlanta when he was seven, actively pursuing legal status in the U.S. for several years. By October 2023, as reported by Trap Transition, 21 Savage proudly announced attaining permanent American residency. He even embarked on a homecoming tour, freely traveling to the United Kingdom.

Reflecting on his journey, 21 Savage shared insights into his humble beginnings in London and the stark contrast upon moving to the U.S. “I come from the poor side of London. My grandma’s house is real skinny. So when we first moved here, we were living in the hood still, but it was, like, way bigger,” he conveyed to the New York Times. Despite the disparities, he fell in love with his new life, emphasizing that it’s all he knows.

The “a lot” star also opened up about his emotions during the period of detention following the ICE arrest. It wasn’t just about confinement; it was the threat of being unable to continue living in the country he had called home for his entire life. “It really wasn’t jail, it was the possibility of me not being able to live in this country no more that I’ve been living in my whole life,” he revealed. “That’s the most important thing. If you tell me, ‘I’ll give you 20 million to go stay somewhere you ain’t never stayed,’ I’d rather be broke. I’ll sit in jail to fight to live where I’ve been living my whole life.”
